The Valuation of Vintage Bicycles
In summary, there is absolutely no way to guess at a vintage bicycle's value. A host of things impact value, and many of them have nothing, what so ever, to do with the bicycle.
Make, size, model, condition, location, historical significance, color, style, and who knows what else, will play a part in determining a bike's selling or purchasing value. And, there seems to be little way to predict how each, and all, will impact a bike's selling value.

Who and when the bicycle was made are key price determining factors but not necessarily indicators of higher quality. The big names are not necessarily the best in the field. Therefore, it is better to evaluate a bicycle's quality level, state of repair and location, before determine the value. A mint, top of the line, new old stock (NOS), will fetch a pretty good price, when compared to one that is in a poor state of repair.
